Progress Over Perfection: Finding Motivation in the Waiting

As I’ve shared before, patience is not my strongest trait. I want to be successful in everything I do—and I want it now. But success, as we all know, rarely works on our timeline. It takes patience, consistency, and trust—three things that don’t always come easily.

So what do we do when the finish line feels far off? When progress feels painfully slow or even invisible?

That’s something I’ve been wrestling with lately.

When Progress Is Hard to See

I’m trying to hold onto the truth that progress over perfection is what matters most. That action equals progress—even when the results aren’t immediate.

But let’s be honest: it’s a lot easier to stay motivated when you can see the fruits of your effort. When you’re in that middle zone—where you’re showing up but not seeing the return—it’s easy to feel discouraged.

That’s when faith becomes my anchor.

Trusting the Process—and God’s Timing

I’m continuing to lean into my faith and trust in God’s timing. When I first got my real estate license, I moved to a new state without knowing a single person. It took me ten months—doing it part-time—to land my first sale. Ten. Long. Months.

Since then, I shifted focus to building my transaction coordinator business, and it’s been growing beautifully. That’s why I’ve recently decided to dip my toes back into sales. Will it take another ten months? Maybe. Maybe less. But I’m committed to rebuilding and rebranding—step by step.

Let’s Talk About Exercise (My Personal Kryptonite)

Okay, now for some real honesty: I hate exercise. I mean really—I hate it.

But I also know how important it is, especially as I get older. I want to build lean muscle, protect against osteoporosis, and stay strong. So I’m pushing through the dread and committing to light workouts every other day—targeting different areas each time.

Am I seeing results yet? Heck no! I just started. But here’s what I am noticing:

  • I have more sustained energy throughout the day.
  • I’m sleeping better.
  • I’m not crashing in the afternoons like I used to.

That, I think, counts as progress.

Redefining Motivation

Motivation doesn’t always look like fireworks. Sometimes it looks like choosing not to quit.

For me, motivation is rooted in:

  • Progress over perfection
  • Faith in God’s timing
  • Knowing that consistent action leads to results

There are still plenty of days when I feel like throwing in the towel. Days when I think, “Forget this—I don’t want to do any of it.” But then I remember:

Everything is figureoutable.

And if I can make it through the slump, I can make it to the finish line.

I think you inherited the impatience from bit sides! It’s not always a bad thing. You are doing amazing things with your journey in spiritual, personal, and professional growth. Exercise is my nemesis too, so any little bit, I do count. Thank you for posting each day. This is a highlight at the end of the day!
