July So Far: Loud Kids, Beach Days, Budget Wins & a Dash of Drama

I thought a little mid-month check-in would be a nice way to reflect—on both the wins and the wild. July has been a lot, but we’re hanging in there.

The kids are still on summer break, and apparently, that means staying up until 3 a.m. like it’s a sleepover every night. Mom and dad? Not thriving. The noise levels are off the charts. I’ve had to ask (and re-ask) them to be quiet, and their dad literally had to grease the door hinges so they’d stop creaking open like a haunted house. Still—slam. Slam. Slam. Every night. It’s ridiculous, but here we are.

The oldest is still working on building up confidence behind the wheel, and the youngest is dragging his feet on studying for his permit. Looks like taxi mom will be back on duty once school starts. Again.

On a brighter note, we have made it to the beach once this month, and I’m determined to go at least one more time before the month ends to meet my mini summer goal. I’ve also picked up a few new pieces for my slowly evolving wardrobe. It’s coming together, and I’m excited to share more about that process soon.

Another win? Budgeting. I’ve been attending a money mindset class that’s been nothing short of transformative. There’s so much I want to share about that—it’s shifting how I think, not just about money, but about possibility.

There was a curveball this month, though. My former university reached out regarding a situation I thought was long behind me. It brought up some old pain—and a professor who, frankly, seems to have a personal vendetta because I spoke up. I’m not ready to unpack it all here yet, but just know: I’m not the same woman I was when that all started. I’ve grown. I’ve healed. And I’ve found my voice.

Meal planning has also been a quiet success—we’ve only eaten out once (and technically, it was the week of June 30, so I’m counting that as last month). Is that girl math? Probably. But either way, I’m taking it as a win!

I’ve also made great progress on my summer reading list. I’m down to the last two books: Everything is Figureoutable and Style Therapy. Expect reviews soon—they’ve both been inspiring in different ways.

Work and business are still going well, though I’ve been battling a stubborn cough since recovering from COVID. Now there’s a new burning sensation in my gut (ulcer, maybe?), which is not on my summer bingo card. I’m definitely ready for my body to catch up with my mindset and chill out.

So that’s me—mid-July, in motion, managing the chaos with a dose of humor and a whole lot of self-awareness.

How’s your month going? Any last-minute summer plans or big wins? Any distractions you’re trying to dodge? Let’s support each other through the rest of the season. There’s still time to rest, reset, and reimagine how we want to end the summer.
