July Recap: Progress, Small Wins & Learning to Celebrate It All

It’s the very last day of July, and you know what that means—it’s recap time! This is something I love to do at the end of each month. It helps me reflect on what actually got done, what changed, and where I might need a little more grace. I’ll save the “where we’re going next” part for tomorrow (hello, August goals!), but for now, let’s look back at July.

💪 Health & Wellness

  • I lost six pounds this month—yes, six! I’m so close to a goal I can practically feel it, but we’re not quite there yet. Still, that’s progress I’m proud of.
  • I also stuck to meal planning really well this month. We only ate out four times, and honestly, for a busy family, that’s not bad at all. Toward the end of the month things got a little hectic, but I’m giving myself grace because sometimes a takeout meal is exactly what you need.

💸 Finances

  • I increased my automatic savings by just $5 a month. I know it’s not a huge number, but small changes add up over time—and this one feels manageable and sustainable.
  • I also did a round-up challenge where I rounded up my purchases and stashed the difference into savings. I ended up saving about $25 from that alone! Again, not a massive amount, but it proves that tiny shifts can lead to meaningful progress.

✍️ Creative & Work Life

  • I’m really proud to say I blogged every single day this month. That’s huge for me—not just as a personal goal but because it gave me space to process, reflect, and connect.
  • I closed on four houses as a transaction coordinator, which exceeded my goal of two closings. That was such a huge win and a confidence booster for me and my business.

🏠 Home & Lifestyle

  • I did a little decluttering by donating some old pots, pans, and bakeware I no longer use. I sold a few other unused items, and the rest went to a sweet teacher friend who’s using them in her classroom this year. That felt good.
  • I only made it to the beach once, even though my goal was to go twice. Life got busy, and we couldn’t fit it in—but I’m still glad we made it out there at all.

📚 Books I Read in July

  • Style Therapy by Lauren Messiah
  • Everything is Figureoutable by Marie Forleo
  • Only If You’re Lucky by Stacy Willingham

I truly enjoyed all three! Reviews for the last two are coming soon—they’re already on my August to-do list.

🎬 Family Time

We took the boys to see Fantastic Four, which was such a fun outing. Even if they barely interacted with us (teenage boys, right?), I know they had fun—and we’ll take the memories any way we can get them.

All in all, July felt full. Not in an overwhelming way—but in a “we showed up, we tried, and we made progress” kind of way. I had some wins, I had some shifts, and I had some moments where I gave myself grace. And that? That’s what it’s all about.
