Balancing School, Life, and a Little Super Bowl Fun

This weekend has been strenuous. My schoolwork took much longer to figure out than I had intended, but after three revisions, I finally submitted it. Three revisions might not seem like a lot, but considering it’s currently a 64-page living document, it was a lot for me. Now that it’s done, my next goal is to outline my upcoming paper due next Sunday. After that, I plan to carve out some time to read You Are a Badass. I really want to finish that book this month—fingers crossed!

Beyond schoolwork, I managed to tackle some housework and knocked out all my grocery shopping. Do I have a set meal plan? No. Am I going to have to figure it out? Yes. LOL. I tried my best, but my mind was too preoccupied with what we’d be snacking on during the Super Bowl. I finally decided on:
Guacamole and tortilla chips
Hot cheddar and onion dip with toasted baguette
Hot ham and turkey sandwiches

Nothing too fancy this year, but they all sounded delicious to me!

Bookish Excitement

On another fun note, I bought a ticket to the Summerville Reads festival! Two of my favorite authors, Grady Hendrix and Stacy Willingham, will be there. I absolutely love the horror and suspense they bring to their books, so I’m thrilled. There’s also a local author attending whose new love story seems interesting. I usually go for thrillers, but if it were a movie, I’d watch it—so why not try the book?

Self-Improvement & Spiritual Reflections

Lately, my friend and I have been discussing self-improvement. We keep finding that for every one step forward, we’re pushed back ten steps. Why is that? It doesn’t seem to align with God wanting us to improve and give Him glory. Is it negative influences? Are we being tested constantly? Spiritually, I believe we are, but sometimes, I just want things to feel like they’re going right.

I know I shouldn’t complain—I have an amazing family, home, and life—but it’s hard not to wonder if I’m on the right path when there’s no immediate reward. Maybe it’s just the lack of instant gratification that makes it feel this way.

A Sweet Valentine’s Surprise

On a brighter note, my husband gave me my Valentine’s Day present early—a Money Tree in the cutest little mint green pot! I put it in my office to bring prosperity to my work, school, and business life. We’re planning to go out for dinner on Valentine’s Day, and as for what I got him… no spoilers (he might read this!).

What about you? Do you celebrate Valentine’s Day? If so, what are you hoping for this year? 💕
