6 Must-Watch Spiritual and Feel-Good Movies for Inspiration and Faith

Like many of us, I love a good feel-good movie. But I especially enjoy films that hold a deeper message—something spiritual or centered around life’s journey. Movies like these not only entertain but also leave us reflecting on faith, love, and purpose.

Here are six movies that I absolutely love. Two of them I make a point to watch every year, while the others I can’t resist if I catch them on TV.

1. The Passion of The Christ

This is one movie I only watch once a year, usually around Easter. It’s incredibly powerful, yet an emotional and difficult watch. Mel Gibson’s depiction of the crucifixion of Jesus Christ is raw and real—almost too real.

What always touches me most is the portrayal of Mary, Jesus’ mother, watching her son endure such unimaginable pain, fully knowing it was His purpose. As a mother, I cannot fathom the heartbreak she must have felt, seeing Him suffer for all of humanity. This movie leaves me teary-eyed every time and reminds me of the depth of Christ’s sacrifice. I truly believe every Christian should see it at least once.

2. God’s Not Dead

This movie is an absolute favorite of mine because of the boldness of faith it portrays. A college student accepts a challenge from his atheist professor to prove that God exists—and the ripple effect of his courage changes lives.

It’s a great reminder that, even when others don’t share our beliefs, we can stand strong in our faith while remaining kind and respectful. God’s Not Dead is both inspiring and thought-provoking.

3. Heaven is for Real

This heartwarming film is based on the true story of a little boy who has a near-death experience and shares that he visited Heaven. His simple, childlike faith—and the details he reveals—restore his father’s belief and transform an entire community.

What I love most is how naturally the boy speaks about meeting Jesus, his sister, and other loved ones in Heaven. His certainty is both comforting and hopeful, reminding us that Heaven is real and God is active in our daily lives.

4. Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret

Unlike the others on this list, this one isn’t overtly spiritual—it’s more about personal growth and life’s journey. It follows a young girl navigating puberty, friendships, and her identity while coming from a non-faith-based home with influences from both Christian and Jewish family members.

The story beautifully captures the struggles of finding where we fit in, while gently reminding us that God’s timing is always perfect—and that family love transcends differences in faith.

5. The Star

This animated retelling of the Nativity story is charming, funny, and heartwarming. I watch it every Christmas season, and it never gets old. It offers a lighthearted yet meaningful perspective on the birth of Jesus, making it perfect for families and anyone who wants a fresh take on the story of Christmas.

6. Eat Pray Love

Though not a Christian film, this story is deeply spiritual and centered on self-discovery. It follows Elizabeth Gilbert as she leaves behind the life she thought she wanted and sets out on a journey of renewal—through indulgence in Italy, meditation in India, and love in Bali.

It’s a reminder that when we think we have everything figured out, life often takes us on a detour that leads to growth, healing, and purpose.

Final Thoughts

These movies speak to the heart—some about faith, others about finding ourselves, and all about the beauty of life’s journey. Whether you’re seeking spiritual inspiration or a story that makes you reflect on what truly matters, these six films deliver powerful messages in their own unique ways.
