“I Still Believe” Movie Review: A Story of Faith, Love, and Loss

Streaming now on Netflix, I Still Believe is a deeply emotional film based on the true story of Christian music artist Jeremy Camp. Much like A Walk to Remember, this film follows a young couple whose relationship is rooted in deep faith—and is tested by a heartbreaking cancer diagnosis.

What struck me most about this story was not just the romance, but the unwavering faith at its core. There’s a beautiful line in the film that says:

“A billion stars, in a trillion galaxies… and He knows my name.”

That stopped me in my tracks. In a world so vast, we are known—by name—by our Creator. How powerful is that? It’s a reminder that we are each intimately loved and seen, even when we feel invisible.

The film doesn’t shy away from the realities of suffering. Sometimes, prayers are answered in ways we don’t expect—or they go unanswered altogether, at least from our perspective. This movie reminded me that God’s plan is often beyond our understanding, especially when it involves the loss of someone we love. But I believe, deeply, that our souls are eternal and that life doesn’t end with death.

Another powerful aspect of I Still Believe is its honest portrayal of grief. The anger, the questions, the pain—it’s all there. It doesn’t try to sanitize or fast-forward through the process of loss. It lingers in it, honors it. And in doing so, it feels real. It is important to note that at the end, you realize that this movie is based on a true story and the amount of faith Jeremy Camp exudes is inspirational.

If you’re looking for a faith-based movie that speaks to love, loss, and the deeper meaning of belief, I Still Believe is a beautiful and moving watch.
