Okay, planner confession time:
As much as I love my planners (and if you’ve been here a while, you know I do), I don’t check off all the boxes every day. Not even close.
Especially when it comes to housework… let’s just say some boxes sit unchecked for days.
But here’s the thing: I still try—and that effort matters. One day soon, I’ll get to check off every single box on a page. Until then, I keep showing up.
📝 When I Forget to Plan (It Happens More Than I’d Like)
Here’s another confession:
Sometimes, I forget to write things down in my planner—especially when my husband mentions he’s working late or going on a trip. He’ll casually remind me, “I told you that weeks ago,” and I just blink back at him, completely unaware.
Why don’t I remember?
Because I didn’t take the time to write it down right then.
Or… I wasn’t fully paying attention when he told me. (There, I said it.)
📅 What I Do Have a Good Handle On
Now let me redeem myself a bit:
I’m really consistent when it comes to Friday work planning. I sit down, go over my week, and map out what’s ahead.
Same with Sunday home planning—I check the calendar, prep the meals, and get a handle on the family schedule. I’m not perfect, but I show up, and that’s a win.
Could I improve?
Absolutely. There’s always room for growth when it comes to habits. But I also give myself grace.
🎨 Decorating My Planners = My Creative Outlet
Here’s a fun third confession (wow, this is turning into a planner confessional booth!):
I get genuinely excited about decorating my planners.
Stickers, washi tape, themed pages—I love it all. It’s one of the few times I really tap into my creative side, and I’m already thinking about doing a vision board spread for 2026 this December to keep that spark going. Maybe that will help improve my planning habits even more.
🖋 Why I’ll Always Be a Paper Planner Girl
Even with the missed tasks and forgotten dates, I will never give up my paper planner.
There’s something so satisfying about writing things down and physically checking them off. That little sense of accomplishment? Priceless.
I don’t need digital apps or smart reminders. Just give me a good pen, a blank spread, and maybe a sticker or two.
💬 Let’s Talk Planners
So now I’m curious:
- Do you use a planner?
- Are you a decorate-every-page kind of person, or just a straight-to-the-point scheduler?
- What do you wish you were better at planning?
Drop your answers in the comments—I’d love to know I’m not the only one who doesn’t always check off every box but keeps planning anyway. 💗
