Simplify Your Home This August: Systems, Routines, and a Realistic Meal Plan

This August, I’m on a mission to simplify my home—but I’ll be honest: I wasn’t sure where to start. Is simplifying about routines? Is it about getting rid of material clutter? Is it both?

All I know is that I want things to run smoother, especially with school starting back in just a few days. I want less chaos, more calm. So here’s what I’m doing—and maybe it’ll help you too.

✅ 1. Weekly Calendar Planning

Each week, I sit down and make sure every appointment, event, and task is written down—digitally and/or on paper. Will I forget something? Probably. But this weekly routine makes me far less likely to miss the important stuff.

🍽️ 2. August 2025 Meal Plan

No more stressing over “what’s for dinner?” Here’s my August meal calendar that saves mental energy and keeps our meals on track:

🗂️ 3. Decluttered and Functional School Zones

I’ve already worked hard to declutter our office—and now I want to keep it that way.

Here’s what I’m setting up:

  • Paperwork Zone: One bin for anything that needs signing or filing.
  • Backpack + Gear Zone: Designated areas for backpacks and ROTC gear. Last year, things were scattered—this year, I want consistency and boundaries.

💡 4. Other Ways I’m Simplifying Our Home in August

🧺 Laundry Routine: Assigning a laundry day to each family member so it doesn’t pile up.

🧹 15-Minute Daily Reset: Everyone helps tidy up for 15 minutes in the evening—quick wins add up.

🌿 Simplify Decor: Clearing countertops and focusing on minimal, calming decor (less stuff = less stress).
