This past week was a whirlwind of late nights, exciting moments, and a few much-needed pauses. Our oldest played a key role behind the scenes in his high school’s production of Guys and Dolls, working the spotlight across four performances! On Thursday and Friday, I volunteered at the ticket booth, and we didn’t get home until around 10:30 p.m. each night. Saturday brought two shows, and we attended the later one—it was fantastic. Every student did a wonderful job, and we didn’t get back until close to 11. Sunday was a quieter day spent recuperating. Jason took our oldest out driving for some practice while I enjoyed a much-needed nap.
Garden Update:
We’ve got baby tomatoes! At least two, maybe three—one vine is teasing me with what looks like a tiny fruit, but I’m not 100% sure just yet. The jalapeño plant is thriving with five peppers coming in strong. Our onions have officially sprouted, which is super exciting. The rest of the garden looks healthy, though we haven’t seen sprouts from the latest seeds yet. Patience is key, right?
A Fun Literary Opportunity:
I was honored to be selected as an advanced reader for a local author’s novella. Unnamed by Nadine Theiss is a gripping and powerful story tackling the harsh realities of human trafficking. It’s graphic and not for the faint of heart, but it’s incredibly compelling—Nadine did an outstanding job. It’s a piece that stays with you.
Debt-Free Progress:
If you’ve followed my earlier posts, you’ll know one of my big goals this year is getting out of debt. I recently purchased the Becoming Debt Free workbook by Papers by Jessica Ann, and it’s been a game changer. The visual tracker is a fun and motivating tool—I’m using the snowball method and started in January. I’ve officially paid off three small debts so far, and I’m hoping to keep the momentum going through the rest of the year!
Looking Ahead:
This week is shaping up to be just as full. Today is Tax Day—ugh—and also my mother-in-law’s birthday. Happy Birthday, Helen! Our oldest has a dental appointment and a professional driving lesson tomorrow (his first!). On Thursday, our youngest has his ROTC awards ceremony—fingers crossed! I’m off work on Friday for a state holiday, so I plan to make and deliver a lasagna through the Lasagna Love organization I volunteer with. Meanwhile, I’m nursing a migraine and hoping it passes soon. Thankfully, migraines have been few and far between since I started Emgality, and I’m beyond grateful for that.
I hope you all have a fabulous week! I’d love to hear from you—drop a comment and share something you’ve accomplished in the first four months of 2025 so we can celebrate your wins together!
