September Goals & Intentions: Saving Money, Prioritizing Rest & Growing My Business

Well, hello September!

Nice to meet you here on a Tuesday morning.

As always, I like to start the first day of each month by setting my goals and intentions. Then, on the last day of the month, I come back and see what I accomplished, what I didn’t quite get to, and whether I actually followed through on the intentions I set for myself.

I really enjoy doing these monthly check-ins because they give me something to work toward without making me feel like everything has to be perfect.

So, here is what I’m aiming for this September.

Financial Goals

Our biggest financial priority this month is preparing for an upcoming expense for our youngest.

He needs oral surgery, and we’re looking at $1,700 out of pocket. The full amount has to be paid 48 hours before his surgery, which is scheduled for October 6.

That means we need to have it paid by October 4.

I’m hoping and praying that we can get everything taken care of before then. It’s definitely going to require some intentional planning and budgeting, but we are going to do our best to make it happen.

My other financial goal for September is a little less intimidating: increase my automatic savings by $10 per month.

It isn’t a huge increase, but I believe that small changes can add up over time. I’d rather make a manageable adjustment that I can stick with than try to make a huge change that doesn’t fit comfortably into our budget.

Health Goals

My health goals for September are pretty straightforward.

I want to:

  • Lose five pounds.
  • Exercise three times a week.
  • Get some actual rest.

That last one might be the most important.

I’ve been feeling a little blah over the past few days, and I think my body and mind are telling me that I need to slow down a bit.

When I say rest, I don’t just mean getting more sleep. I want to prioritize meaningful rest—mentally, physically, and emotionally.

It’s easy to keep pushing through because there is always something that needs to be done. But I don’t want to spend the entire month running on empty.

So, this month, I’m giving myself permission to rest when I need it.

Hopefully, the combination of moving my body, being more intentional about my health, and getting enough rest will help me feel more like myself again.

Business Goals

My business goals are ambitious this month.

First, I need to pay my quarterly state and federal taxes.

It’s not necessarily the most exciting business task, but it definitely needs to get done!

My second business goal is to close on four homes as a transaction coordinator.

Yep.

I’m doubling my goal compared to last month!

Last month, my goal was to close on two homes, so this month I’m challenging myself to reach four.

We’ll see how it goes!

I’m excited to see what September brings for my business and whether I can hit this bigger goal.

Personal Goals

I have two personal goals for September.

The first is to read two books.

This was one of my goals last month, and I actually ended up reading four books, so I’m hoping I can keep that momentum going.

My second personal goal is to cook dinner at home at least five nights a week.

This one has a little bit of a financial motivation behind it.

We have been going out to eat more than we’d like, and if we can decrease how often we eat out, we can put that money toward our youngest’s upcoming oral surgery.

So, cooking at home more often is going to help us work toward a bigger financial goal while hopefully getting us back into a better routine with meals at home.

Five nights a week might be a little ambitious, but I’m willing to give it a shot!

Family Goal

My family goal for September is simple:

Do something fun together.

That’s it.

I don’t have a specific plan yet.

Maybe we’ll go see a movie. Maybe we’ll find something else fun to do together. I’m honestly not sure what it will be yet.

But I do know that I want to make some time for something that isn’t about work, school, appointments, errands, or responsibilities.

Just something fun with the family.

Sometimes you don’t need a big elaborate family outing. You just need to make the time to enjoy being together.

September family goal: Make time for a fun family activity.

My September Intentions

When I look at all of these goals together, I think the bigger theme for September is being intentional.

I want to be intentional with our money.

I want to be intentional about my health and getting the rest I need.

I want to be intentional about growing my business.

I want to be intentional about spending less on eating out and cooking more at home.

And most importantly, I want to be intentional about making time for my family.

September is going to be a busy month, and I’m sure there will be unexpected things that come up along the way.

But that’s okay.

The goal isn’t perfection. The goal is to keep moving forward and do the best I can with what this month brings.

So, those are my September goals and intentions!

Now I’d love to hear from you.

What are your goals and intentions for September?

Are you focusing on your finances, health, career, family, personal growth—or maybe just getting through the month one day at a time?

Let me know what you’re working toward this month!
