Well, today is the big day — I turn 40! Good grief, where has the time gone? There’s something surreal about stepping into a new decade. It’s equal parts reflection, celebration, and anticipation. As I look back on my life so far, I feel a blend of gratitude, humor, and a little disbelief at how quickly the years passed. Today I am feeling grateful. I am grateful to being 40 because not many people get to be this age. Funny enough is I was worried about turning 30, ten years ago, seems like yesterday, but it was a great decade. I just know this decade is going to be even better. I am honestly looking forward to what life has to hold in this new era. I just know it is going to be the most abundant one yet!
The Beauty of Entering a New Decade
There’s something refreshing about milestone birthdays. They invite you to pause, breathe, and take inventory — not with judgment, but with curiosity. Forty feels like a threshold: old enough to know better, young enough to keep dreaming boldly. So what feels different, well my joints hurt. Just joking, in all seriousness I feel more confident, stronger, calmer, and overall just better in my own skin compared to what I felt like in my 20s and 30s. I am getting older, but that doesn’t mean that my dreams are an less. In fact, they are probably bigger than ever!
Lessons Learned from the First 40 Years
Life has taught me so much — about resilience, love, boundaries, self‑trust, and the power of choosing myself. Some lessons were gentle, others were delivered with a thud, but each one shaped me into who I am right now. I think one lesson that I have had to learn is that I am worthy and other people’s opinions about my worthiness don’t matter. This was a fairly hard lesson to learn. I have always been a people pleaser and have always tried to the right thing, but I have had to learn that sometimes people just suck. I don’t need those people in my life and I am better off without them.
Letting Go of What No Longer Serves Me
One gift of hitting 40 is clarity. There are things I carried in earlier decades — people‑pleasing, overthinking, worrying about others’ opinions — that no longer fit the woman I’m becoming. Turning 40 feels like permission to release all of it. As you know, I have been on a self-development journey the last couple of years and it has allowed me to be more confident, to go for things I wouldn’t go for normally, to dream, manifest, and ultimately become the badass that I am.
Gratitude for Everything That Led Me Here
Gratitude feels like the theme of this new decade. I’m grateful for my family, my work, my home, the opportunities I’ve received, and the strength I’ve built through challenges. Every moment — even the hard ones — brought me here. I am grateful for this new decade and the wealth, health, and overall abundance in every part of my life that will come with it. This is going to be my rich bitch era and for that I am so grateful!
What I’m Looking Forward to in My 40s
If my 30s were about growth, my 40s feel like they’ll be about embodiment — living more authentically, more calmly, more joyfully. I’m excited for deeper peace, bigger dreams, better boundaries, and choosing myself consistently. I am looking forward to living life abundantly, reaching goals, creating new streams of income, and just living my best life. I am looking forward to the growth of my children and seeing everything that life has to offer them. I am looking forward to another decade with my husband and experiencing life every day with that wonderful man. I am just very much aware of how grateful I am to be able to see 40 because we don’t all get to make it here.
Celebrating the Woman I’ve Become
Forty feels like a celebration — not of perfection, but of progress. I’ve grown, evolved, stretched, and risen. And today, I get to honor the woman I’ve become and the one I’m still becoming. I think the thing I am most proud of is learning to love myself. It has been a hard road if I am honest. I haven’t always liked who I am or what I look like, but I am getting there each and every day.
Setting Intentions for This New Decade
Intentions matter. As I step into 40, my intentions are rooted in joy, freedom, abundance, and connection. I want this decade to feel aligned, spacious, and deeply fulfilling. My guiding theme for this decade is the decade of abundance. It is the decade that abundance is with me in every aspect of my life: health, wealth, love, and overall happiness. Here’s to 40 — to the lessons, the laughter, the tears, the milestones, the blessings, and everything still ahead. I’m stepping into this decade with open hands, an open heart, and so much gratitude. Cheers to the next chapter.
