Can you believe it’s already the end of February? This month felt like it flew by and dragged on all at once, which is such a strange experience when you really think about it. On one hand, we’re already preparing to enter the third month of the year. On the other, January and February felt heavy and slow—maybe because I’ve felt like I’ve had a lot to do and not enough time to do it.
Still, here we are. And instead of rushing ahead, I want to pause and look at the goals and intentions I set at the beginning of February and where I actually landed.
Financial Goals
My primary financial goal for February was to stay within a budget and make my student loan payment. This was my first large student loan payment after not having one due for quite some time, and I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t nervous. I kept reminding myself that everything would work out—and it did.
While I didn’t stay perfectly within every budget category (groceries definitely went over), I did stay within my overall funds, which I consider a win. I made that large student loan payment and was relieved once it was officially received. Shortly after, I received great news: my loan servicer reevaluated my income-driven repayment plan, and my payment will be lower starting in March. That felt like a much-needed reprieve.
Health Goals
My health goals were to drink at least 64 ounces of water daily, continue my morning walks, and lose five pounds.
This was not my strongest area this month. I didn’t consistently hit the 64-ounce water goal, though I made an effort. I also didn’t keep up with my morning walks due to ongoing back and leg pain. Some days, pushing through the pain felt worth it; other days, it didn’t. I’m learning to listen to my body more and give myself grace.
I didn’t lose five pounds, but I did lose one—and I’ll take that. Progress is still progress.
Business Goals
My business goals were to call more leads and close on two houses as a transaction coordinator.
I know I need to be more intentional about lead follow-up. Time blocking is something I need to implement so it becomes a consistent habit rather than something I try to squeeze in.
That said, even though payment will likely come in March due to closing timelines, I did close on three houses this month. I am incredibly grateful for that.
Personal Goals
My personal goals were to read two books and spend at least one hour unplugged each day.
I feel really good about these goals. During my unplugged hour, I intentionally put my phone away or face down so I wouldn’t see notifications. I usually spent that time reading, and honestly, it’s a practice I want to keep. The mental clarity that comes from uninterrupted time is something I didn’t realize I was missing.
As for reading—I exceeded my goal. I ended up reading five books this month:
- Forget Me Not by Stacy Willingham
- Hero by Rhonda Byrne
- The Greatest Secret by Rhonda Byrne
- Shutter by Ramona Emerson
- Do Less by Kate Northrup
Family Goals
Our family goals included celebrating Valentine’s Day, my husband’s birthday, and doing one fun activity together.
For Valentine’s Day, my husband and I exchanged small gifts and went to dinner, which was absolutely wonderful. He surprised me with flowers, chocolates, and built me a beautiful bookshelf that is already almost full. I gifted him a sweater jacket he had been wanting.
For his birthday, we went out to dinner, talked, played trivia, and enjoyed being present together. We celebrated at home afterward with his favorite carrot cake.
As for a family activity—we didn’t quite get there this month. It’s tough getting teen boys excited about group activities, and that’s okay. Some seasons are just like that.
February Bucket List
One small February bucket list item was to watch a romantic comedy or romance movie. I checked that off early in the month by watching Persuasion, and it felt like the perfect cozy start to February.
Final Thoughts
Overall, I think February was a good month—not perfect, but honest and grounding. There were wins, lessons, and reminders that progress doesn’t always look the way we expect it to.
Tomorrow, I’ll be sharing the goals and intentions I’ve set for March. I’m excited to see what the next month brings.
