5 Books I’m Reading This Summer to Grow, Laugh, and Get Chills

My Top 5 Summer Reads for 2025: From Style Therapy to Spine-Chilling Fiction

Let’s talk summer reads.

After an unintentional reading hiatus (life has been a bit much lately!), I’m finally making time for books again. This summer, I’ve picked a mix of self-help, personal growth, fiction, and a touch of the supernatural to reignite my love for reading.

Here are the top five books on my summer 2025 reading list—some I’ve started, some I’m dying to dive into, and all of them speak to where I am right now.

1. Sorry I’m Late, I Didn’t Want to Come by Jessica Pan

🔖 Genre: Memoir / Humor / Personal Growth

I’m almost finished with this one—so it’s my top priority! Jessica Pan, a self-proclaimed introvert, challenges herself to say “yes” for an entire year. Her adventures are both hilarious and painfully relatable. If you’ve ever wanted to push your comfort zone while still being true to yourself, this book is for you.

2. Style Therapy: 30 Days to Your Signature Style by Lauren Messiah

🔖 Genre: Personal Development / Fashion / Lifestyle

After a significant weight loss, I’m in a weird place with my wardrobe—nothing fits, and I have no idea what my actual style is anymore. This book breaks down personal style development into a 30-day program. I’m hoping it helps me reconnect with my confidence and creativity through fashion.

3. The Haunting of Blackwood House by Darcy Coates

🔖 Genre: Gothic Horror / Fiction

I haven’t read anything by Darcy Coates yet, but I’m hooked by her eerie titles. I love a good scary story, especially in the summer when it’s light outside late into the evening (because yes, I do get spooked easily!). Here’s hoping this delivers on all the haunted house vibes.

4. You’ve Got to Read This Book! by Jack Canfield & Gay Hendricks

🔖 Genre: Inspirational / Anthology

This book shares 55 short stories about the books that changed people’s lives. I think this will not only be heartwarming and inspiring but also a great way to discover even more books for future reading. It’s a reminder that stories really do shape us.

5. Everything is Figureoutable by Marie Forleo

🔖 Genre: Motivational / Self-Help

This book has been sitting on my shelf for a while, and summer feels like the perfect time to finally dig into it. Marie Forleo offers practical tools for breaking through fear, procrastination, and doubt. I’m hoping it gives me a boost of “get-it-done” energy.

Just finished Live Fearless by Sadie Robertson and it was so good! Very motivating. She speaks clearly about her struggles and how to get through life/stress/anxiety while also focusing on God and his assistance/guidance through it all. Highly recommend it.
