Unapologetically Amber: Living Life, Unfiltered

3 Mindsets I’m Leaving Behind in My 30s (And What I’m Embracing Instead)

I’ve been on a deep personal growth journey throughout my 30s, and let me tell you—it’s been transformative. Some of the biggest changes haven’t come from what I’ve added to my life, but from what I’ve let go of.

These are three mindsets I’m officially leaving behind—and the empowering beliefs I’m stepping into instead.

🌱 1. Letting Go of “I Don’t Know How”

New mindset: “I’m finding out how.”

One of the most powerful shifts I’ve made recently is learning how to reframe my language. Inspired by Marie Forleo’s Everything is Figureoutable (you might remember this from my book review), I’ve stopped saying “I don’t know how” and replaced it with:
✨ “I’m finding out how.”

That one sentence changes everything. It puts me in a place of curiosity and capability instead of defeat.

For example, I recently caught myself saying, “I don’t know how to become a consultant.” And before I could take another breath, I corrected it:
➡️ “Wait—I am going to find out how to become a consultant.”

That’s something I truly want—to work in grant and contract management, helping others navigate policies and procedures. I know I have the skills. Now I’m focused on learning the path. Reframing my words has helped me believe that it’s not only possible, it’s already unfolding.

💸 2. Letting Go of the “Scrimp and Save” Mindset

New mindset: “I am blessed and abundance surrounds me.”

As I shared in a recent post, I’m no longer living in survival mode when it comes to finances. Budgeting is still part of my life, but the energy has changed.
I’m now rooted in gratitude and trust—not fear.

I remind myself daily:
💫 I am blessed.
💫 I have everything I need.
💫 More is coming.

The more I focus on what I have, the more I see opportunities unfold. It’s a subtle shift, but it’s made a huge difference in how I feel about money and life overall.

💖 3. Letting Go of “I’m Not Worthy”

New mindset: “I am worthy of good things.”

This one’s personal—and emotional.
For a long time, I believed I wasn’t good enough. Not worthy of success. Not deserving of nice things. Not “important enough” to receive more.

But I’m done with that.
✨ I am worthy of nice things.
✨ I am worthy of a promotion.
✨ I am worthy of financial abundance—not just for me, but so I can give to causes that matter to me.
✨ I am a good person—and I’m allowed to believe that.

I’m not perfect (who is?), but I’m growing—and this past year has stretched me in the best ways. I cried while writing this post because the transformation is real and deeply felt.

I want my kids to see their mom as someone who’s emotionally healthy, who believes in herself, and who takes care of her mind, body, and heart.
That’s the legacy I’m working on.

💬 Final Thoughts: What Are You Ready to Let Go Of?

Growth is not about perfection. It’s about self-awareness, honesty, and choosing better—even if it’s one belief at a time.

So I ask you:
What mindset are you ready to leave behind?
What are you choosing to embrace instead?

Let’s grow together—drop your thoughts in the comments, or message me privately. I’d love to cheer you on. 💗
